Frequently Asked Questions
What are Lil’ Boo Earth friendly Baby Wipes made from?
Our wipe cloth material is made from 100% bamboo fibre with no plastic or trees in them. The solution is 99% purified water and the rest are gentle plant-based ingredients (look to the ingredients page here)that are very commonly found in baby and cosmetic products that have been safely used for decades.
Can I use your wipes on my baby’s sensitive skin?
Yes, our wipes are hypoallergenic. The gentle plant-based ingredients are all in the 1-2 (the lowest) range on EWG’s website meaning they are the safest to use. The aloe and chamomile are both organic and of course, the remaining 99% of water helps keep baby’s skin hydrated.
Are your wipes biodegradable?
Yes. Because they are made from 100% bamboo fibre, they are 100% biodegradable and will break down in about 3 weeks. This is a big difference from the major brands that have between 30-40% plastic in the wipes making them non-biodegradable and non-compostable. In 100 years, they will still be in our
land fills.
Can I use Lil’ Boo Earth friendly Baby Wipes on other parts of my baby or for other uses?
Yes, Lil’ Boo baby wipes are safe to use on all areas of baby’s skin. They are also great to use for parents skin and many other uses. Parents are using our Lil’ Boo baby wipes to wipes down car seats, little Fido’s bum and many other uses. Write to us and tell us how you are using your wipes!
Are your wipes flushable?
No, unfortunately they are not. No baby wipes are really flushable. The reason is there’s a battle between truly flushable wipes that have the consistency of wet toilet paper (and have to break down in 30 minutes in water) versus baby wipes that need to be strong enough not to break apart on your baby’s butt and in your hands while you’re using them.
Are your wipes fragrance-free or unscented?
Our wipes are fragrance-free. There is a big difference. Fragrance-free means that any scent from the wipes comes from the ingredients and there is no fragrance added just for scent (which EWG strongly recommends against). Unscented normally means that an additional chemical is added to mask any smell from the ingredients, introducing another ingredient that has the potential to irritate.
Are your wipes pH balanced?
Yes. Scientists have found that human skin is naturally less than 5 pH. They suspect the reason is to provide an additional barrier from bacteria or other infectious bugs. Using regular lotions and water (even a bath) on baby’s skin increases the pH, reducing that protection. Our wipes help to naturally lower baby’s pH level to where it should be for optimal protection.
Do the wipes have a best before date?
Yes, they do and the date is located on the package. Once opened, they can be used for up to six months (store them in a cool, dry spot if possible). They have been microbiologically tested by a local lab in Richmond to ensure that there are no bacteria or other bugs to cause any problems for our little ones. If you want, we are happy to email you a copy of the lab testing results.
